God lead me to Him and the truth of His word, the Holy Bible, by showing me the
widespread satanic corruption around the world, through the occult symbols that are
used worldwide in media, logos and even on our dollar bills. He also showed me that
all the churches are infiltrated with Satan's false apostles and ministers.
So when I first came to Him for salvation I understandably not want to go to church.
So I baptized myself in my bathtub in the name of Jesus Christ and have been following
the Lord ever since (keeping His commandments).
When you are baptized, you are first, obeying God's command to do it, and second you
are now affiliating yourself with Jesus Christ and His sacrifice on the cross for your sins.
You are now affiliating yourself with the body of Christ, with all other true Christians.
It is "the rite representing the cleansing of the life from heathen pollutions and devotion
to the service of the true God" (Ellicott commentary on John 3:5).
You are now going to begin the process of being born again, which is the Spirit of God removing all
things contrary to Him that is in you. It is a regeneration from our corrupt self-seeking nature
to one that lives in strict obedience unto the will of God. A transformation of yourself by God into
a new moral life is what being born again means. It is as if you are born again in that you do a
complete 180 and live a completely new life, from doing your own will to that of God's.
old life = what you want to do (your will)
new life = what God wants you to do (His will)
"22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness."
Baptism is not some magical moment where God's spirit descends upon you and you begin to hear His literal voice.
Baptism is a token of your obedience unto God. It is a symbol of your coming out of the world
and to God for salvation and atonement of your sins through Jesus Christ.
It is you signifying to God you want to obey Him and begin the process of being born again.
"And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him."
